IES-Europe Students,
If you would like to see and show to others any of the videos on this site, let me know your name and what IES-Europe Seminar you attended.
As with our
EconomicThinkingBooks site (where we offer books in exchange for reading, reviewing and passing them on), here we offer DVDs (PAL or NTSC format) or VCDs on similar terms. Watch them, post your thoughts and comments here, pass them on, then you can ask for another. Sound reasonable?
Also, if you don't have a DVD player, I can send that too. Interestingly, in the U.S. multiformat DVD players are about the size, weight and cost of hardcover books ($20). Of course, if these compact DVD players can be shipped to the U.S. from China and sold that cheaply, they should be available in your country too...
What's the catch? Well, it costs money to hold economic education seminars for students. IES-Europe invests a lot to teach you about economic freedom (and of course brilliant and witty lecturers are expensive). Both IES-Europe, and Economic Thinking/E Pluribus Unum Films (where I work in Seattle) receive donations to support our economic education work. Books and videos can expand and enrich your understanding of the free society.
If we can move this project forward by providing books and videos, and can convince donors that both IES-Europe and Economic Thinking are worthy of their support, then we receive donations to keep these activies going. That is the idea anyway.
"Africa: Resources, Conflict, and Freedom" includes a short film by June Arunga ("Africa's Ultimate Resource") and excerpts from some of her talks on conflict and economic development in Africa. Highly recommended. Let me know if you would like a copy sent. And let me know what format.
